Gary McPherson is the Ormond Professor of Music and Director of the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music in Australia. He has served as the National President of the Australian and International Societies for Music Education and presented in over 23 countries around the world. He has published a number of books for Oxford University Press including co editing the Oxford Handbook of Music Education (2016), and editing the Child as Musician: A Handbook of Musical Development (2016), Musical Prodigies: Interpretations from Psychology, Education, Musicology and Ethnomusicology (2016) and Music in Our Lives: Rethinking Musical Ability, Development and Identity (2012). He has also published around 200 articles and book chapters in music education, music psychology, and performance science.
